Planning an event
When planning your event, there are several important things to consider...
* Think about the purpose of your event - are you celebrating a birthday or a wedding? Do you have a theme? How long will the event go for?
* Are there any other events happening at the same time that might affect attendance (e.g. a Crows/Power showdown)?
* Is the venue available on the date(s) you want?
* Make contact with your entertainment provider (e.g. Cover Notes) as soon as possible to make a tentative booking for the event. Click here to make a booking inquiry with Cover Notes.
* Do you need a liquor licence if serving alcohol at your event?
* If fundraising, do you have the approval of the charity you are raising funds for? It pays to contact them early as there may be restrictions on what the charity may approve.
* Once you've booked the band and organised the venue, you need to promote the event with your audience. Make sure that you ask for an RSVP well before the date of the event so you know that you have enough people coming to it. Also, it pays to ask people to pay in advance for tickets. If you leave it to paying at the door, some people may change their minds and not attend whereas they will if they have paid.
