No rest for the wicked!
The band's next two gigs are only just around the corner - Forest Place Lifestyle Village in June, where we'll provide a mixed enterntainment service (music and games/interaction); and Helping Hand North Adelaide in July, where we'll catch up with regular customers and bring the odd tear to an eye. Both venues are really enthusiastic, so they are really good to play to.
There might be a chance to play a new song or two, and pull out a couple of old favs that we haven't played for a while. That's the thing I like about our repertoire - lot's to choose from and always fresh (I'm starting to sound like a supermarket chain).
The new line up is coming along nicely. Lee is adding new strums to his arsenal every week, as well as lead vocals here and there and important backing vocals. Mike is covering more bases with lead guitar nowadays, and having to remember over 200 solos - I don't know how he does it. Mary has been an absolute 'find' with her alto and instant harmonies, let alone the harmonica solos. It's good to have Christine back, and who knows, we might be able to get her on percussion given what we have seen recently. And then of course the ever dependable Terrie, shouldering more of the lead vocal and percussion to boot. Apart from the odd static shock on her lip from time to time, all is going superbly. And as for me (Andrew), I'm enjoying the bass and adding some of those distinctive bass parts on some of our favourite songs. As for the drummer (who goes by the name of Alesis), he keeps a steady rhythm but does nothing too flash in between. (For the readers who think I am being unkind to our drummer, he's a machine.)
More updates later.
