Band members
Christine Arnold - vocals, percussion, PA
Christine has a passion for the arts and started acting with the Tea Tree Players,Theatre Group in 1994. She appeared in many plays but particularly loved the musical aspect of the Christmas Pantomimes. Her love for music and rhythm inspired her to pursue her true love - singing. Christine was asked to jam with the band and she was instantly hooked! The opportunity has helped her grow as an artist and of course following that “beat” with the percussion instruments is part of the enjoyment. Christine's musical taste varies from Motown, R&B, Soul, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Reggae, Country - the list goes on. Working with such talented musicians who have vast experience gives the band the opportunity to experiment with many styles of music, adding the uniqueness which is "Cover Notes". |
Terrie Baker - vocals, percussion
Music was a big part of Terrie's life growing up - her mother was an excellent pianist and Terrie and her siblings were involved in church and Christmas choirs. Terrie's first solo performance was “How much is that doggy in the window” in grade 6 – not really a high point musically. After raising a family, her next venture into musical performance was many years later when work mates decided to get together at lunch-times to have some fun singing and playing, and TranzAx, later re-named Cover Notes, was formed. Feeling a need/desire to learn more about music and singing, Terrie is also member of a choir and has enjoyed choral singing *almost* as much as singing with Cover Notes. |
Mike Dunbar - lead guitar, vocals
Mike has been playing guitar since the 1970's, when he originally studied at the Northern Academy of Music in Adelaide, gaining a better understanding of music theory and a wealth of knowledge on which he has built much experience over many years of playing. During this time Mike has played with many musicians in various combinations of bands. More recently he performed with both "The Starlights" and "'Tranzax" concurrently for about five years until a change of line up. He now plays lead guitar, rhythm and vocals with "Covernotes" in its present form and loves to see people enjoying music from a diverse range of ages. His early musical influences included many of the usual bands from the 60'sbut has come to appreciate all types of music including very early blues from such greats as "Howling Wolf" and can see how it influences many of today's current artists. |
Lee Brown - rhythm guitar, vocals
Lee is a self-taught guitarist, learning to play during his 40's - proving that guitar can be learnt at any age. From 2006 to 2008, he played with 'Rake The Shingle' - a semi-traditional Celeidh band in Norfolk UK. Lee returned to Adelaide in 2008, and reacquainted his long term primary school friendship with Andrew. Lee joined Cover Notes in 2012 as rhythm guitarist when the band reinvented itself. Lee's musical tastes draw from the 60s to current day rock, pop and blues, with artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Bruno Mars, Mark Knopfler, David Gray, Beatles, Jeff Lynne, Crowded House, Stereophonics and Newton Faulkner. Lee enjoys the growth and fun that comes from playing and singing in a band, including dabbling in a bit of lead and acoustic guitar. |
Tony Jeffries - keyboard, guitar
Tony has vast experience in the music industry and his musical talents are never ending. He has a love for the keyboard and relishes the challenge of new songs. Tony has added that missing link to our instrumentals making our overall sound impressive. Of course his natural ear for music adds that uniqueness we were looking for. |
Andrew Davies - bass guitar, vocals, drum machine
Andrew was a 'bedroom strummer' for years until former member Chris Sykes coaxed him into performing publicly. Andrew played rhythm guitar with the band from 2000 to 2012, at which time he swapped to bass guitar when the band became Cover Notes. Andrew prefers music with strong melodies, and his influences include The Beatles, The Kinks, Thirsty Merc, Billy Joel, ELO, Split Enz, Crowded House... the list is endless! Andrew's plea... "The world needs more reggae." |
